BELTON (October 15, 2012)-The man whose body a passerby found Friday morning on a roadside near the Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir dam has been identified as Llael Garcia-Rodriguez, 31, of San Antonio, the Bell County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
Fingerprints were used to identify Garcia-Rodriguez, who had been reported missing in San Antonio and San Antonio police believed he was in the Killeen area, the sheriff's office said.
An autopsy showed he died of stab wounds in the chest, the sheriff's office said. The report also stated that Rodriguez's face had been beaten severely.
His murder is leaving investigators with unanswered questions.
"To me there's not a normal murder," James Lewing of the Bell County Sheriff's Office said.
"Every murder has its own calling card. We just want to figure out why this person was dumped alongside the road like a piece of trash."
Garcia-Rodriguez was a former soldier and Bell County authorities said they don't know of any criminal record.
When asked if his death was gang related, they refused to speculate.
"We're not ruling anything out, it might be gang related it might not be," Lewing said.
Rodriguez's car is still missing.
The 1996 white Chrysler Sebring convertible with black wheels has Texas license number DT6W479.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the vehicle to call (254) 933-5435.
