MART (November 21, 2012)--Five Mart residents were charged Wednesday in connection with what police were calling a home invasion robbery that left an elderly woman injured..
McLennan County Jail records showed that Deshaun Medlock, 34, Cynthia Davis, 45, Deethel Davis, 17, Nicole Davis 26 and Edward Hancox, 39, were charged after Mart police arrested them.
Medlock was ordered held on bonds totaling $40,000, charged with aggravated robbery of an elderly person and failure to identify himself as a fugitive.
Cynthia Davis and Nicole Davis were ordered held on $3,000 bond each, both charged with hindering apprehension.
Deethel Davis was charged with hindering apprehension, posted a $3,000 bond and was released.
Hancox was ordered held on a $5,000 bond, charged with hindering apprehension.
Police officers said at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday a woman who lives on the northeast side of the city reported that a man kicked in her front door and attempted to rob her.
The woman reported she was beaten during the attack and she was taken to a Waco hospital where she was treated and later released.
She was able to identify her attacker and police began searching for the man.
Mart police Chief David Monthey said officers went to an area of town where they believed the suspect lived and began searching for him.
When officers approached what they believed to be the man’s home, a resident told them the suspect wasn’t there.
The resident, however, gave officers consent to search the home and they found a man hiding in a bedroom.
Police also found bloody clothing in the house that matched the description of clothing the victim said her attacker was wearing at the time of the robbery.
The man was arrested for the home invasion and four other people at the home were arrested for hiding him from police.
