HEWITT (October 4, 2013)—Former Midway School Board candidate Peter Miscus, 50, was free on bond Friday after he was charged with injury to a child, assault and assault causing body injury in an incident in which a teenage girl was slapped and the girl’s mother was struck.
He was arrested Tuesday and was later freed on $9,000 bond.
The incident happened at around 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hewitt Park where several juveniles were playing basketball, Hewitt Assistant Police Chief Tuck Saunders said.
Saunders said when officers arrived they were told that a man had slapped a 14-year-old girl.
Officers were also told that when the teen’s mother tried to intervene, she was punched.
Micus was arrested at the scene.
He ran for the Place III seat on the Midway ISD School Board last year, but lost.
