WACO (October 22, 2012)--Stephen Smith, Jr., 37, who was arrested on Oct. 11 by a U.S. Marshal's task force and Michigan State Police, on warrants issued in Waco, was in the McLennan County Jail Monday in lieu of bonds totaling $90,000, charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of endangering a child.

The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 26 that happened after a man argued with his girlfriend in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Lake Shore Drive in Waco.

The girlfriend got into a vehicle with four other people, including a child, and drove off.

The man followed in his vehicle and at the intersection of 19th Street and College Drive near the McLennan Community College campus, intentionally rammed the first vehicle with his, causing injury to the occupants.

Waco police obtained warrants for Smith after he disappeared and authorities found him last week in Michigan.

He was returned to Waco and booked into the county jail on Monday morning.
