KILLEEN (November 2, 2012)--A 5-year-old girl who was struck by an SUV Friday afternoon in front of Sugar Loaf Elementary School was flown to Scott & White Hospital for treatment.

Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said at about 3 p.m. a van stopped on Kimberly Lane and the driver waved a group of children across the street, but the driver of the SUV that was following did not see the children.

Smith said the little girl suffered broken bones but said her injuries were not life threatening.

No one else was hurt.

Police didn’t say whether the driver of the SUV was cited.
