WACO (December 20, 2013) A man who ran after an accident at a Waco convenience store was in custody Friday after eluding police for more than hour.

During the search for the man, Parkdale Elementary School and Tennyson Middle School were briefly locked down as a precaution.

Students were released from both schools Friday afternoon as scheduled.

Officers chased the man through backyards and behind businesses in the area before finally cornering him just after noon in the backyard of a house at 812 Glasgow Dr., not far from the Cefco store at Sanger Avenue and Lake Air Drive where the hit-and-run accident happened.

They had to user a Taser to subdue him.

He was taken to the McLennan County Jail.

The driver of the other car sustained only minor injuries in the crash, officers said.
