CAMERON (March 17, 2013)—Samuel Martin Wesson of Tanglewood, who’s named in warrants from Bastrop, Lee and Milam Counties, was in custody Sunday in Cameron, facing additional charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
Authorities had been looking for him for two months.
Wesson was arrested Friday night after investigators, acting on new information, found him driving west on County Road 328 in rural Milam County.
He abandoned his vehicle in a private drive and ran into a wooded area where Milam County Deputy John Mendoza found him, the sheriff’s office said.
He was arrested after what sheriff’s officials described as a fight.
“I am extremely proud of the performance of my men and our Milam County state troopers. They did a great job in getting this dangerous individual of the street,” Milam County Sheriff David Greene said.
Wesson’s bonds total $350,000.
