KILLEEN (October 12, 2012)--Students were evacuated from Killeen's Trimmier Elementary School Friday morning after smoke from a failing air conditioner filled the building.
No one was injured and there was no fire.
Killeen fire units were sent to the school at 4400 Success Dr. at around 10:45 a.m. and arrived to find the students already outside the building.
A fire official said one of the building's air conditioners had an electrical problem and smoke was pumped into the building by the unit's fans.
A spokeswoman for Killeen Independent School District said the children returned to class within about 30 minutes.
