TEMPLE (April 16, 2014) More than two years after a young Temple girl told family members that an older man sexually had assaulted her, the man wanted in the case was behind bars Wednesday.
Elias Villaneuva, 68, was ordered held in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $220,000 bond, charged with aggravated sexual assault, online jail records showed.
Villaneuva, who had been listed as one of Temple's eight most wanted fugitives, was arrested without incident in the 1100 block of South 27th St., Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.
Police received a report of the sexual assault in December 2011 after the victim made an outcry to a family member, Wilcox said.
After a forensic interview, detectives were able to identify a suspect and obtain a warrant and since that time had been looking for the suspect.
