MARLIN (February 27, 2014) The Falls County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a local woman involved in a traffic crash in February 2013 that left an elderly man and his wife dead.

The indictment charging two counts of intoxication manslaughter against Joan Davison Barganier stems from a head-on crash on Feb. 4, 2013 on FM 147 just east of Marlin that claimed the lives of Marvin Reese Stone, 78, and his wife, Geneva Roberts Stone, 73, both of Freestone County.

Geneva Stone and her husband were eastbound in a 1997 Lincoln Town Car and Barganier was westbound in a 2008 Silverado pickup truck that crossed the center stripe near a curve, nicked an eastbound Kia and then collided head-on with the Town Car, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said at the time.

Geneva Stone died at the scene and Marvin Stone, 78, died after he was flown to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, in Waco.

Barganier suffered a leg injury and was also taken to Hillcrest.
