BELLMEAD (August 6, 2012)--A Bellmead man remained in critical condition Monday, a week after a hit-and-run driver struck his wheelchair on Interstate 35 access road.
Bellmead Detective Michael Miller said Monday Earl Broadman, 42, was listed in critical condition at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with what the officer called life-threatening injuries.
On July 31 Broadman was traveling north in the 1500 block of the Interstate 35 access road when a vehicle struck his wheelchair from behind, Miller said.
The driver didn’t stop.
The force of the collision threw Broadman from the wheelchair and onto a grassy shoulder of the road where a passerby later heard his cries and came to his rescue.
Miller said the wheelchair was destroyed in the crash.
Miller said there are no witnesses to the crash and no one has provided a description of the vehicle.
