WACO (January 5, 2012)--A group of six McLennan County residents began a 12-week challenge to loose weight and get fit today.
The Live Well Waco's 'New Year New You Wellness Journey' will teach participants how to eat healthy and exercise.
"We had about 30 applicants and we were able to narrow it down to the six, the super six as we call them," Tiffani Johnson with Live Well Waco said.
Those who were chosen met their trainers today at Richland Mall in Waco.
Participant Derek Anderson said he hopes to loose 100 pounds.
"I want a total new lifestyle, a total makeover from head to toe," Anderson said.
Anderson is a veteran and a single father of five daughters.
"I became Mr. Mom and when I did that, the weight came," Anderson said.
Anderson said Live Well Waco is dedicated to improving the quality of life for McLennan County residents.
Participants will also blog about their journey during the 12-week program.
