BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (July 31, 2012)--Bruceville-Eddy police and Texas Rangers were investigating a death Tuesday evening.
The small town’s police chief was tight-lipped about details, but it is known that at around 5:40 p.m. Monday a man found his mother dead and swaddled in a blanket in her home at 108 Pinto Drive in Eddy.
The body was badly decomposed, authorities said.
Police identified the woman Tuesday evening as Carol Jean Wagner, 60.
Tuesday afternoon, authorities took the dead woman’s boyfriend in for questioning, but said he was not arrested.
He left the police department at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
He was driving her car.
State and local investigators were at the scene through the night.
Authorities don’t know how long Wagner has been dead or how she died.
McLennan County Justice of the Peace Billy Martin pronounced the woman dead and ordered an autopsy.
