WACO (April 11, 2013)--A Waco woman was held Thursday in the Bexar County jail after San Antonio police arrested her on a child endangerment warrant issued in Waco.
Adriana Loza, 19, was arrested Wednesday at a San Antonio hospital where she was staying while her 10-month-old boy was being treated for head injuries he suffered during a domestic dispute.
Waco police St. W. Patrick Swanton said an arrest affidavit issued for Loza shows she failed to notify hospital emergency room personnel that the boy had been injured while being shaken by a man on Feb. 26.
Kendrick Javon Betters, 23, was held Thursday in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $51,000, charged with injury to a child, harassment, possession of marijuana and failure to identify himself as a fugitive.
The child first was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where physicians determined he had been injured by shaking or being thrown against an object.
The incident, Swanton said, happened at a North Waco apartment.
The baby initially was transferred to McLane's Children's Hospital, at Scott and & White Hospital in Temple, and later to a children's hospital in San Antonio.
Loza was held without bond awaiting transfer back to McLennan County, a Bexar County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said.
