KILLEEN (June 28, 2012)—Killeen police arrested Regina Arlene Long Thursday and seized 29 dogs from her home at 1605 West Stan Schlueter.
Long faces a Class A misdemeanor cruelty to animal charge, police said.
The arrest stems from an investigation that started after police received complaints about the conditions in which the dogs were kept, police said.
Animal control officers had cited Long in the past, police said, and because she failed to comply, authorities sought a warrant to seize the dogs, police said.
“The dogs were exposed to an increased risk of disease because the dogs either did not have water or the water was extremely dirty and the enclosures had an excessive amount of feces inside them forcing the dogs to live and sleep in these conditions,” police said in a press release Thursday.
Long was held Thursday evening in the Killeen City Jail.
