BELL COUNTY (February 1, 2013)—A Central Texas man and his teenage son were arrested and charged Friday after an hours-long search for a possible shooting victim.
Richard Chrisner, 41, and his son Keegan, 19, were arrested early Friday morning after a search for the teenager who authorities believed had shot himself and then fled from a home at 17120 Leon-Moody Road.
The search started after two 911 calls.
Coryell County authorities received a report of a man with a gun at 7:29 p.m. and three minutes later Bell County received a call from the home on Leon-Moody Road reported that the teenager shot himself and fled, authorities said Friday.
Deputies spent several hours searching the area, with guns drawn, trying to find the teenager and A Department of Public Safety helicopter from Waco was enlisted to help in the search.
Bell County deputies found the teenager a little before midnight and discovered he had not been shot.
He was arrested at the scene, as was his father.
The teenager was charged with assault causing injury to a family member and evading arrest or detention.
The assault charge stems from an incident in which the teenager’s grandfather was struck, authorities said Friday.
His bonds total $5,000.
His father was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released from jail after posting a $1,500 bond.
