Man Drowns In Central Texas Pond

Divers recovered the body of a 37-year-old man who drowned in a pond in a Central Texas park.

COLLEGE STATION (April 7, 2013)--The College Station Fire Department says dive team members recovered the body of a man who drowned while swimming Saturday afternoon in the pond at Stephen C. Beachy Central Park.

Fire department units responded to the reported drowning at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

The victim was identified as Timothy Sumrall, 37, of College Station.

The fire department dive team recovered his body around 2:30 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bystanders reported that Sumrall was swimming when he went under water and did not surface.

Authorities said he was underwater for five to 10 minutes.
