WACO (April 11, 2013)--A Waco man was taken to a local hospital Thursday afternoon after he was freed from beneath a truck that fell on him when a jack collapsed.
Waco police, fire and EMS units were sent at around 2:45 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 3900 block of Sleeper Avenue after a caller reported the man was pinned under a Chevrolet Suburban.
Waco fire Chief D.C. Yeager said the man was working under the truck in his driveway when a jack that was supporting the Suburban failed and the truck fell on the man’s chest.
Someone inside the house heard the commotion and called for help.
Firefighters use rescue air bags to lift the truck off the injured man, who was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries Yeager said.
The man's name was not immediately released.
