WACO (February 8, 2013)--A man was in the McLennan County Jail Friday after a bizarre string of incidents that started when a pickup crashed into a Waco apartment building and ended when officers found the truck in a multi-story campus parking lot and the man lying in a ravine at the base of a nearby parking garage.
Officers were sent at around 1:30 a.m. Friday to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Lake Shore Drive in response to a report that a truck had crashed into a building.
When officers arrived the pickup and the driver were gone.
Officers later found the truck parked in a lot on the McLennan Community College campus and discovered the injured driver lying at the bottom of a ravine that separated the lot from the parking garage.
It was unclear whether the man jumped or fell from the parking garage or rolled into the ravine from the parking lot, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Friday.
The injured man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical center for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
After his release the man was arrested and taken to the McLennan County Jail.
Charges were pending Friday.
