KILLEEN (May 15, 2012)--A man who tried to extinguish a grease fire in a kitchen suffered burns over 30 percent of his body Tuesday night.

The fire happened just after 8:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North 8th Street in Killeen.

Firefighters say the man was burned as he tried to toss water on the fire.

He was flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Police did not release his name or condition.
