BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (April 15, 2014) A woman, her baby and her grandmother were able to escape uninjured as a fast-moving fire engulfed their rural home Tuesday afternoon.
Bruceville-Eddy firefighters were sent at around 12:50 p.m. to the home in the 700 block of Eagle Lane, just southeast of Bruceville.
The first crews to arrive found the back of the home engulfed in flames.
Heavy smoke could be seen from some distance away, firefighters said.
Firefighters from Lorena and Moody also responded, but even with the extra manpower it took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the flames.
The two women and the infant were displaced by the fire, a Bruceville fire official said.
The initial investigation indicated the fire was accidental and electrical in origin.
The back of the home suffered heavy fire damage and the rest of the structure was heavily damaged by smoke, heat and water.
