WACO (December 5, 2012)--Three boys and a girl were in hot water Wednesday with administrators at Waco’s Cesar Chavez Middle School after two of them were caught Tuesday just before they got into a fight and two others were found with what the district described as inoperable handguns.
Waco Independent School District spokesman Dale Caffey said one boy was found with a cap gun and a girl was found with what Caffey described as a non-working BB gun.
Caffey said the principal told him the BB gun wasn’t fired, but a mother told News 10 her son was struck in the leg by a BB.
The cap gun, Caffey said, was just a toy.
Two other boys who were on the verge of throwing punches were separated and taken to the principal's office before they actually began to fight.
Caffey said between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. there was a large group of students waiting for class to begin in the school's gymnasium and that's where the incidents happened.
He also said he was not aware that any citations were issued by WISD police.
No students were injured, Caffey said.
