COPPERAS COVE (March 21, 2013)—Police and sheriff’s deputies Thursday morning surrounded a home in Copperas Cove in which a suicidal man who was reported to be armed was barricaded.

Copperas Cove officers were sent to the home in the 1200 block of South 15th Street at around 9:50 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, the man, whose name was not released, refused to come out and said he would harm himself if they entered the house.

A portion of 15th Street between Urbantke Lane and Curry Avenue was blocked off and neighbors said they were advised to stay in their homes.

Negotiators talked with the man by phone and were able to persuade him to come out just before 11:40 a.m.

He was taken to Metroplex Hospital for evaluation.

No one else was in the house at the time, police said, and no one was injured.
