TEMPLE (December 13, 2012)—Officers from two departments worked together early Thursday to track down a teenage suspect and make an arrest after an armed robbery in the parking lot of a Temple apartment complex.

Temple officers responded to the holdup at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bridge Apartments at 404 Fryers Creek Dr.

The victim told police a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt approached him in the parking lot, produced a silver handgun and demanded his wallet, cell phone, car keys and car.

The robber fled in the victim’s car, police said.

About two hours later officers learned that the victim’s credit card had been used at several locations in Belton and Belton officers were advised to be on the lookout for the victim’s car.

Belton officers found the stolen vehicle at around 3:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Belle Oakes Apartments at 1100 Shady Lane and set up surveillance on the car.

As they and Temple officers watched the vehicle, they saw a man several times as he looked around the side of one of the buildings in the complex.

When they approached him, he ran, police said.

The eventually tracked him to an apartment where they found him hiding in a closet.

Warren Randall Hughes, 19, was arrested at the scene.

Charges were pending Thursday.
