WACO (July 10, 2012)-Waco police have arrested a man who was accused last week of exposing himself to a young girl at a self-serve laundry.
Mario Estrada was ordered held Tuesday on bonds totaling $6,000, charged with indecency with a child by exposure and failure to pay child support.
Estrada, 51, was arrested by officers assigned to the Waco police Crimes Against Children unit Monday evening.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Estrada was arrested at a residence at 903 S.17th in South Waco.
Estrada is the suspect that exposed himself to a nine year old girl at the laundromat located at 2901 Robinson drive on July 4.
Patrol Officers and the Street Crime Unit located Estrada at his home and he was taken into custody without incident.
Swanton said photos of the suspect shown on television broadcasts and published in the local newspaper led to numerous calls from people who identified Estrada in the pictures.
"We (attribute) the arrest of Mario Estrada to the assistance of the media in getting this suspects photo out to the public," Swanton said in a news release Tuesday.
"Thanks to the quick reaction and distribution of surveillance photos by the media, we had a tremendous response from our citizens in identifying this high risk offender and being able to get him into custody," Swanton said.
