WACO (December 18, 2012)--Residents of neighborhoods that will be in the backyard of Baylor new stadium, are voicing opinions about future game-day parking.

Baylor and The City of Waco have held public meetings to help residents near the new stadium adapt for the future and parking was addressed at a recent public meeting.

Residents such as Wannika Muhammad questioned if parking, like at Floyd Casey Stadium, would overflow into nearby neighborhoods.

"I think people overall just want to know what Baylor's next steps are so we can plan our lives accordingly," Muhammad said.

Many can easily tell when it's game-day in Waco.

Manuel Vara can whenever cars begin to overflow onto his street behind Floyd Casey Stadium but he doesn't let the traffic get him down, he takes advantage of it.

"I charge for parking on my lawn and in front of my home," Vara said.

"I normally can make around $2,500 a season doing it."

At the public meeting last Tuesday, residents had mixed opinions regarding game-day parking in neighborhoods.

But residents such as Muhammad think it's a good idea.

Muhammad owns an empty lot near her home.

She recently applied to make the lot commercial.

Her intention, is to provide parking for her trucking company and for future Baylor fans.

"If somebody wants to pay a small fee and park on my property, then I should be able to reap those benefits," Muhammad said.

The City of Waco says there are no current residential parking restrictions near the site of Baylor's future stadium yet.

If residents wanted street signs that say "No Parking During Game-day," they would have to take it up with The City of Waco.

But the decision, if made, could be worth some easy cash. Vara said when the University of Texas played Baylor at home in 2011, he made an $735.
