KILLEEN (December 26, 2012)-- With less than a week remaining before mandatory budget cuts take effect non-profits in central Texas are bracing for the worse.

While few details of what the federal government will cut have been released, the Central Texas Counsel on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CTCADA) are still reeling from previous cuts.

Executive Director, Jean Bellinger, "There are already areas that we are not receiving services or funding for, and so if those cuts happen those cuts will get deeper and there will be a lot of people left without services."

But according to Bellinger not all changes are a bad, she says some non-profits are merging and working together, now more than ever, to "to the best to stretch our funds."

No matter the outcome in Washington, CTCADA is not waiting to change how it funds is services.

Bellinger says that they are looking to create new businesses where the profits will fund CTCADA, with the hopes of not having to worry about funding from the government.
