WACO (April 14, 2014) Niels Edward Olsen, Jr., 60, of Waco, was in the McLennan County Jail Monday charged with aggravated assault after a standoff in a local neighborhood.

His bond was set at $10,000.

A dispute with a neighbor led to the two-and-a-half hour standoff Sunday night.

Officers were dispatched at around 8 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 2300 block of Sunnydell Avenue after a resident reported that a neighbor had threatened him.

The resident told officers that one of his children kicked a ball over a fence and into the man’s yard.

He said when he tried to retrieve it, he was threatened with a gun.

Officers requested a SWAT team after the man refused to come out of his house.

Eventually officers were able to talk the man into surrendering.

They recovered a weapon at the scene.
