Three In Custody After Area Truck Stop Robbed At Gunpoint

HILL COUNTY (October 20, 2013) -- Three people are facing aggravated robbery charges after an early morning armed robbery at a truck stop.

A spokesman for Hill County Sheriff Michael Cox reports the robbery happened early Sunday morning at the Sunmart Truck Stop off Interstate 35 in Abbott.

The spokesman says three people approached a truck cab after their car got stuck in a field.

When the driver opened the cab door, the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded money.

The suspects managed to get away with the drivers cell phone and wallet.

Sheriffs deputies responded to the scene and were able to locate the suspects hiding in a field a short distance away.

They were all arrested and transported to the Hill County jail to face aggravated robbery charges.

The suspects names have not been released.

The truck driver, who was on his way back to Canada, was not injured.
