Motorcyclist Dies In Early-Morning Crash On Central Texas Highway

A 21-year-old motorcyclist died early Monday in a collision with a pickup truck at a Central Texas highway intersection.

ROBERTSON COUNTY (April 1, 2013)—A collision early Monday morning involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle at a highway intersection in Robertson County left the motorcycle rider dead.

The accident happened at around 4:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 14 just south of the Falls County line.

Jason Mitchell, 21, of Bridgeport, died when his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle slammed into a pickup truck whose driver pulled from Highway 14 onto Highway 6 and into his path, Department of Public Safety Trooper Jimmy Morgan said.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was identified as James Chmiel, 53, of Bremond, Morgan said.

The accident is under investigation, Morgan said.
