WACO (June 24, 2012)—A collision between a pickup truck late Sunday morning in Waco sent the rider to a local hospital and closed a downtown-area street.

The accident was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday on South 4th Street just off Interstate 35.

The driver of the pickup was turning off 4th Street into the Clarion Hotel when the collision happened, police said.

The motorcycle rider, whose name wasn’t immediately released, had just left a service at the Church Under The Bridge.

He wasn't wearing a helmet, police said.

Police temporarily closed South 4th Street while they investigated, but the road was open to traffic by 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
