Vandals Mark Local Church With Satanic Symbols and Gang Signs

ROSEBUD (August 6, 2012)-- Vandals broke into the First Baptist Church in Rosebud Sunday night after services and defaced the church office with gang signs and satanic symbols.

"It's just unexpected. This wasn't provoked, I mean I don't anyone mad at me, the Church, or anything like that," Pastor Jody Hickman said.

Walls and desks inside the church office were marked with pentagrams and upside down crosses.

Pastor Hickman's personal office window was smashed out. Hickman's desk and office walls were also defaced.

"Whatever causes somebody to do something like this to a church has got to be dealing with some very dark stuff," Hickman said.

According to Hickman, whomever broke into the church didn't steal anything.

The gang signs on the church office walls read "LCG" or "Lott City Gangsters."

Rosebud Police say they've never heard of "LCG" or any gang that goes by that name. They currently have no leads.

"I'm a little bit shocked why anyone would want to do something like this to a church," Rosebud Police Chief Kenneth Procter said.

"It's disappointing for someone to do something like this."

Despite the vandalism, Pastor Hickman doesn't feel like the church is being targeted.

"I think kids did this. I'm not going to worry about it and I am certainly not going to dignify this with worrying," Hickman said.

Hickman has only been the pastor for First Baptist Church in Rosebud for 3 months.

He plans on taking action to prevent future break-ins.

"We might have to put in new policies so we as workers feel safe, and so the church members feel safe," Hicman said.
