WACO (March 14, 2013)—Waco is in the midst of a construction boon involving $500 million in projects either recently completed or now underway and officials say it’s the one of the biggest explosions of activity in the city’s history.
The Owens Corning glass plant is undergoing a $74 million expansion, a new Scott & White Healthcare’s $19.5 million cancer center is under construction on the Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center campus, the Waco Army & Air Force Exchange Service facility has undergone a $68 million upgrade and work continues apace on Baylor University’s $260 million dollar on-campus football stadium.
Commercial realtor Bland Cromwell calls it “very exciting.”
“The excitement is that some of these companies that have been here that have been great corporate citizens we know who they are and we love them, and now they're expanding again,” he said.
“It's really happening. I have not seen anything like it right now certainly to the dollars that we're talking right now,” he said.
