WACO (April 29, 2013)—An early morning shooting Monday at a local smoke shop left one Waco teenager dead and another wounded.

Dhaodrique Eastland, 17, and Rahideame Washington, 19, were shot at around 1:40 a.m. Monday at Eddies Smoke Shop at 1301 West Waco Dr.

They were both taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where Eastland, who was shot in the upper body, was pronounced dead.

Washington was shot in the forearm.

Investigators don’t yet know what led to the shooting, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The gunman evidently fled on foot, Swanton said.

The murder was the first of the year in Waco, Swanton said.

Washington attends University High School and Eastland attended the Waco ISD’s Challenge Academy, school district spokesman Dale Caffey said Monday.
