CAMERON (June 30, 2012)--Tanya Ranee Spiller, 34, of Cameron, likely died instantly when an 18-wheeler plowed into the side of the car in which she was riding after the car’s driver turned into the path of the oncoming truck Friday night on State Highway 36.

The driver of the Buick Roadmaster, Troy Eugene LeBlanc, 45, was taken by ambulance to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said Saturday.

Information about his condition wasn’t immediately available.

The driver the 18-wheeler, who wasn’t identified, was not injured, Dixon said.

The accident happened at around 7:50 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 36 and Scott Avenue in Cameron as LeBlanc turned left onto Scott and into the path of the eastbound Freightliner, Dixon said.

The truck struck the front passenger door of the car and the Jaws of Life had to be used to remove Spiller’s body from the wreckage of the vehicle, Dixon said.

Milam County Justice of the Peace Sam Berry pronounced her dead at the scene.

Cameron Police and the Department of Public Safety are investigating the deadly crash.
