With more people feeling the strain of rising gas prices, public transportation is becoming a more popular way to get around town.
The Waco Transit System offers services inside the city and routes to Marlin, Hewitt, and China Spring, as well.
The Hop serves Bell County with routes in Temple, Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove.
It may take more time to get to certain places, but drivers can save as much as $35 a month if they take the bus to and from work.
Stephanie Franks saved $10 by parking her economy-sized Ford Focus and buying a $35 dollar monthly pass to ride the bus to and from work for two weeks.
On her rides, she met teachers, high school students, people working at the mall and families, many of whom say it's all to save money.
Both public transportation services are also looking at more grants and more ways to expand their routes and meet a growing need.
