INDIANAPOLIS (February 17, 2013)--A second paramedic died early Sunday from injuries sustained when a car collided with an ambulance in downtown Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services chief Dr. Charles Miramonti said that paramedic Cody Medley, 22, died early Sunday morning at Wishard Hospital where he was taken with severe injuries
The driver of the ambulance, Tim McCormick, 24, from the Indianapolis suburb of Greenwood, died Saturday.
The accident happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday at an intersection near the Indiana Statehouse.
Police said the ambulance was not on an emergency run and had the right of way.
Medley was originally from Scranton, Pa.
Public Safety Director Troy Riggs said Saturday that McCormick's death was the first known line-of-duty death of an emergency services worker in Indianapolis' history.
