SANTA MARIA, Brazil (January 28, 2013)--Brazilian police say they've made three arrests and are looking for a fourth person in connection with a weekend nightclub fire that killed more than 230 people.
Inspector Ranolfo Vieira Junior said at a press conference Monday that the arrests were for investigative purposes.
He said the detentions have five-day limits.
He declined to identify those arrested or the fourth person sought.
The Zero Hora newspaper quoted lawyer Jader Marques as saying his client Elissandro Spohr, a co-owner of the club, was arrested.
The paper also says two band members were arrested.
Survivors of the fire said security guards briefly tried to block patrons from leaving the club after the fire broke out.
Investigators believe the fast-moving early Sunday was started by a band's pyrotechnics.
One band member was killed.
Firefighters say they had trouble getting inside the club because of the bodies blocking the entrance.
