Fifth Body Found In Mobile Home Engulfed By Fire

SHERRARD, Ill. (March 27, 2013)—A fire early Wednesday that swept through a western Illinois mobile home killed five people, including four children who were at a sleepover, authorities said.

The fifth victim was a woman, Mercer County Coroner Ron McNall said.

The oldest of the four children who died was 15, he said.

Their names have not been released.

A man managed to escape from the mobile hoome fire with two of his sons, McNall said.

The man tried to re-enter the burning structure, but the flames drove him back, he said.

He was burned and was taken to a hospital.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, McNall said.

Sherrard is a village of about 640 people 180 miles west of Chicago.
