NEW YORK (March 4, 2013)—A baby delivered after his parents were killed in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn died at around 5:30 a.m. Monday, community spokesman Isaac Abraham said.
Abraham serves as a spokesman for the family's Orthodox Jewish community.
Police were searching Monday for the driver of a BMW and a passenger who fled the scene of the accident early Sunday, which happened as Nachman Glauber and his pregnant wife Raizy were riding in a cab to a hospital because she wasn’t feeling well.
Fellow Orthodox Jews gathered on the street Sunday afternoon for their funerals.
Afterward, the cars carrying the bodies headed to another service in Monsey, N.Y., where Nachman Glauber grew up.
A medical examiner says both of the Glaubers died of blunt-force trauma.
The driver of the cab was treated for minor injuries.
Doctors delivered the baby by cesarean section.
His autopsy results are expected sometime later Monday.
The baby will be buried upstate after his body is released from a hospital.
