Bond Denied For Parents Accused Of Kidnapping Boys, Fleeing To Cuba

TAMPA, Fla. (April 11, 2013)--Joshua and Sharyn Hakken, the Florida couple charged with kidnapping their boys after losing custody and fleeing to Cuba by sailboat were ordered to remain in jail without bond Thursday.

The Hakkens made their first appearance before a Tampa judge on Thursday morning.

They'll face a judge again during a pretrial detention hearing on Monday on charges of kidnapping, child neglect, false imprisonment, burglary and interference with custody.

The boys, Cole, 4, and Chase, 2, are now with their maternal grandparents, who have legal custody.

The children were taken from them last week.

Joshua and Sharyn Hakken arrived with their sons in Florida early Wednesday, accompanied by federal, state and local authorities after they were handed over by Cuban officials.
