Boy Helps Keep Injured Dad Alive For 10 Days

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 4, 2013)--A 10-year-old boy in Lincoln, Neb., helped keep his father alive for more than a week after the man slipped at the family’s home, police said.

But court records show the man, identified as Bienvenu Asumani, 45, later died in a hospital.

Lincoln police spokeswoman Katie Flood said Monday that an investigator went to the home Friday after the boy's principal called to report that the youngster hadn't been in school for four days.

An affidavit says the boy told police his father fell on a wet floor more than a week earlier, striking his head.

The boy says he gave his father fluids and food.

The investigator said in a court affidavit that the man’s eyes were open, but he couldn't answer questions.

The boy was placed in state custody.

His father died on Sunday.
