GLENOLDEN, Pa. (March 5, 2013)--A suburban Philadelphia school district was making extra counselors available to students after a sixth-grader was taken off life support and died of injuries he suffered in a fight.
Family members say Bailey O'Neill died Sunday morning, the day after he turned 12.
The sixth-grader suffered a concussion, broken nose and other injuries in a fight on Jan. 10 at Darby Township School.
Doctors later put him in a medically induced coma after he began having seizures.
Southeast Delco School District Superintendent Stephen D. Butz said the school sends its condolences to the boy's friends and family.
He said additional counselors were being made available for students and staff.
Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan has been investigating the incident.
