BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 1, 2012)--The boyfriend of a college freshman who was found beaten to death in her university dorm room in western New York has admitted intentionally killing her, authorities said Monday.
Alexandra Kogut's body was found early Saturday in her room at the State University of New York College at Brockport, N.Y., 15 miles west of Rochester.
Monroe County Sheriff's spokesman John Helfer aid campus police discovered Kogut's body after her mother called them concerned because she couldn't reach her.
Clayton Whittemore, 21, was arrested at a Thruway rest stop near Syracuse about an hour later.
A criminal complaint says Whittemore told state troopers that he intentionally killed the 18-year-old coed.
The complaint doesn’t list a motive.
Whittemore pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and was ordered held without bond.
