SANTIAGO, Chile (February 9, 2013)--A bus carrying fans of a Chilean soccer team plunged into a ravine, killing 16 people Saturday.
Fire department officials said most of those who died in the crash were 13 to 18 years old and one was an infant who was a few months old.
Twenty-one people were injured.
Officials say the bus plunged roughly 500 feet into a ravine in a mountainous zone about 280 miles south of the capital.
The bus was carrying fans of the O'Higgins team back from a match the squad won against Huachipato de Talcahuan.
State television says the Chinese-made bus had no seat belts for its 27 passengers and was intended only for urban use.
