Classmates and residents are rallying around a teenage girl who continues to fight for life after she was shot in the head in a suburban Denver high school.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (December 16, 2013) A visible show of support is growing for the 17-year-old girl who was critically wounded when a classmate shot her at her suburban Denver high school.

Well-wishers were praying and leaving notes for Claire Davis at a fence at the school on Monday.

White cups spelled out "Pray 4 Claire (Heart)," while others left stuffed animal horses because of the senior's love of the animals.

Authorities say Karl Pierson, 18, shot her in the head at random on Friday soon after entering the school armed with a shotgun, a machete and Molotov cocktails.

They think he was looking for a teacher with whom he had a dispute.

A coroner on Monday confirmed that the gunman killed himself as a resource officer closed in.

Classes at the school have been canceled until January.
