YONKERS, N.Y. (April 25, 2014) Necropsies will be performed on about 25 dead cats that were found inside neatly-tied plastic bags hanging from tree limbs in a New York City suburb.
The cats found Thursday morning in a wooded area of Yonkers were in various stages of decomposition, authorities said.
Ernest Lungaro, director of the SPCA of Westchester's Humane Law Enforcement Division, told The Journal News newspaper that it appears the cats were dead before they were put into the bags because a live cat would have been able to claw its way out.
On Friday he said three of the cats had blunt force trauma to the head.
