Disturbance At Colorado Prison Leaves One Staffer Dead

CROWLEY, Colo. (September 24, 2012)--One staffer died and another was seriously injured early Monday in a disturbance at a state prison in southeast Colorado.

State prison spokeswoman Alison Morgan said staffers were injured early Monday in the kitchen at the state prison about 45 miles southeast of Pueblo, but further details were not available.

The prison was on lockdown Monday while state authorities investigate.

Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility houses about 1,000 male prisoners.

It opened in 1987.
