Dozens Injured When Woman Drives Car Into Crowd

LIMA, Ohio (June 16, 2012)—As many as 30 people were injured when a woman suddenly drove her car into a crowded town square in Lima, Ohio, authorities said.

Some of the victims were trapped under the car.

Bystanders lifted the vehicle and freed them.

The Lima News reported that the woman drove her sedan into the crowd Friday night in Lima, about 80 miles south of Toledo.

People in the square were attending a weekly community event featuring a live band.

Witnesses say the car appeared to be stopped, but then it veered into the square.

No one was killed.

Police say some victims suffered serious injuries to legs, heads and necks.

At least five were taken to hospitals, and two are in serious but stable condition.

Police were investigating Saturday.
