WASHINGTON (September 7, 2013)--The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security say there is no specific or credible terrorist threat tied to the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
An intelligence bulletin that The Associated Press obtained says al-Qaeda remains committed to carrying out attacks on Western targets, but says there's no information pointing to plots tied to 9/11 or the anniversary of the attack last year on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
The bulletin, dated Sept. 5, makes no mention of Syria, even as President Barack Obama seeks authorization for the use of force in response to a chemical weapons attack the administration says killed more than 1,400 people.
